What can be more delightful than sitting in a beautiful garden setting, eating very good food and unwinding with friends?
Well, that is exactly what is packing them in to the new Kaleida Restaurant which is in Starke Ayres Nursery in Sunningdale. To help it even more, there is a play area for the children so you can keep an eye on them without too much strain.
Breakfast is served all day–such a good idea!–and the portions are more than generous,so much so that I had to take home half of my Benedict. Granted it was more than the classic, as it had bacon, avo, two PERFECT poached eggs–you know–the kind that the yolk just runs out of perfectly set whites, grilled mushrooms, spinach– and the most deliciously rich Hollandaise sauce I have had in a long time.
Then there are the jaffles, a retro treat which proved very popular, one with curried mince and cheese, and the other with spinach and feta. The chips served with this were perfect , crisp on the outside and mushy on the in, delicious.
Also to be had are various toasted sandwiches;classic breakfast, even an oat bowl , croissants, and a fruit blast smoothie bowl.
Main meals for lunch and later feature steak and chips, chicken schnitzel, calamari, burgers and curries of the day.
The wine menu is still under creation and corkage was R50
The service is smooth and snappy, the way I like it, and they will soon have a pizza oven up and running, so keep an eye on it
Get there and see for yourself.
